Spring of Kamuiwakka Waterfal@
Visiting to the hot spring of Kamuiwakka Waterfall is absolutely one of Japan's ultimate hot spring experiences. The hot spring water pours out from the rock walls and mixes with river water as it spills over these falls. The temperature is just right for bathing. In order to reach the hot spring, you first have to hike up a warm mountain stream for about 30 minutes. Once you reach the top, you can enjoy taking a hot spring bath in the natural basin at the base of the waterfall. Be aware that the climb up the stream is very steep and slippery in some places.
Note: Due to the construction, shuttle bus is the only way to get to the Hot Spring of Kamuiwakka Waterfall between 7/13-9/20 (70 days only) in 2008.
You can observe the waterfall from ships. The hot spring water from the Mt.Iou flows into the Kamuiwakka River, and then finally falls into the Okhotsk through the innumerable waterfalls.
